My intentions were to photograph a bison in a winter storm. I felt sure I could locate some of the herd that roamed in the Tall Grass Prairie near Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and I knew that the snow and cold would make for a truly unique image. My barriers were the harsh weather conditions, and the bad roads that led to the park. I knew it would be a difficult journey, but I was determined to succeed despite the odds. The air was crisp and cold, and as the snow began to fall, I could hear the crunching under my tires and the wind through the trees. I finally reached the prairie and began my search for the bison herd. It was a difficult task, as the snow was falling harder now, staring to cover my windshield making it difficult to see. I had to be careful not to get too close to the bison, but I was determined to get the shot I had come for. Finally, I spotted the herd, and I quickly set up my camera. I snapped the shot just in time, capturing the bison in the midst of the falling snow. I returned home as the snow started to quit, feeling proud of what I accomplished. It was a trip worth taking and a memory worth cherishing.
