Hi there! My name is Sandy Dobbs and I am a passionate landscape photographer. I captured this photo along Bear Lake Road in Rocky Mountain National Park in the fall of 2023. It was a beautiful evening moment. Most people come to Colorado for the beauty of the mountains, and to Rocky Mountain National Park in particular for the wildlife sightings. We drove into the park, and up into Moraine Park and the elk were everywhere. The big bulls were guarding their herds, and the sound of the bugles was haunting and beautiful. This big bull was standing in the forest, guarding his herd. I must have taken a 100 photos trying to get a good shot of him, and then suddenly he turned and just stood there! I got chills watching him, as he was so majestic and his rack was huge. The beautiful colors and the light was behind, creating a natural frame around him.
