We drove over 1,200 miles to enjoy autumn colors in the Colorado Rocky Mountains that fall. The small mountain tow of Crested Butte is nestled in the mountain wilderness, with more than its share of soaring mountain peaks. That particular afternoon, the weather was moody and a little stormy. We drove down a dirt road that was a dead end in the mountains several miles from Crested Butte.
