I shot this image late at night, on the banks of the Seine River.
The Eiffel Tower was built for 1889 World Fair, held in Paris. Over 32 million people attended the fair commemorating the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.
Amongst the attendees were european royalty, and artists and scientists like Claude Debussy, Vincent Van Gogh, Thomas Edison and Nikolai Tesla.
The Eiffel Tower was a temporary structure built as the entrance to the fair, scheduled to be demolished 20 years after it was built, but was saved from destruction due to its usefulness as a radio tower.
It now receives almost 7 million visitors every year.
It stood as the tallest man made structure in the world from 1889 to 1930 when the Chrysler Building in New York City overtook it.
