I took this image in Fall 2023 on Lake Dillon in Colorado at 8:45AM. Two days day prior, I had to say goodbye to my sweet pup Kaya after 15 years of companionship.
As a resident of Colorado for almost 30 years, many of my outdoor adventures have been in Summit County and around Lake Dillon so it felt appropriate to return there to take in the fall beauty, reflect on my life with Kaya, and soothe my heavy heart.
I woke just before sunrise, downed a cup of coffee, and made my way to the lake to watch and capture the ever-morphing light, colors and reflections of the sky, lake and peaks and soothe my soul.
After snapping some photos from the Dillon Dam road, I made my way over to Frisco and drove up Swan Mountain Road to get a vantage point from Sapphire Point.
