Even though I’ve lived about an hour from this waterfalls for many years, I hadn’t even heard of it before 2021. So one day I decided to make the drive south and see if it was something that was worth photographing. When I arrived, I noticed that the setting was quite nice, but I couldn’t seem to find the right angle. I tried everything I could think of including shots with my tripod in the stream. Nothing I tried excited me. Finally I got the idea to get up close so that the glistening rock was in the foreground. At the time the area was experiencing drought conditions so the water running over the falls was greatly reduced. Instead of a solid torrent there were various smaller flows that formed a kind of curtain effect. I thought this angle might be a keeper but I no sooner got my tripod and camera set up than it started to rain. I didn’t want to lose my setup so I covered my camera with a trash bag and found shelter under the wooden stairway leading down to the falls. Luckily the rain left almost a quickly as it arrived and after about 10 min. I was able to get back to my shot. With this shot I had finally gotten my keeper.
