I had been stymied to get a good sunset photo along the Oregon coast for the four days I spent exploring. I thought it was going to be a bust again, but since it was my last evening before returning home, I thought I would setup and wait it out fulling expecting to drive back to Portland in complete darkness. I setup along a nice break in the rocks hoping for a good leading line to match the sunset. It was a complete guess as I still had about 2 hours until the set time and my calculations using my extended arm and finger drawing a little arc was my best approximation. So I waited and waited and waited. And the sky got grayer and grayer. With about 30 minutes left, a marine layer started to float in and I knew it was pretty much over. I almost packed up... but I figured I had wasted time - what were a few more minutes. The wind seemed to shift and kept things away from the coast and finally at the last moment, a small opening broke through and the colors started to change in front of me. Patience... not my strongest attribute, but maybe it was just a little good will from Oregon telling me to come back again. Beautiful area.
